ABOUT EXCELSIOR CONSULTING

Excelsior Consulting is the latest way in which Peggy Morrison Outon has worked throughout her life to support nonprofit organizations in their essential work in the world.  The missions of nonprofit organizations and the people who lead them has been her consistent passion.

Founded in July 2023, Excelsior Consulting grew from almost twenty-four years of work and service at the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management and the Covestro Center for Community Service at Robert Morris University.  Peggy founded and led both centers in Pittsburgh.  She also founded management support and technical assistance centers in Austin, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana as well as teaching graduate students at the University of New Orleans in the Arts Administration program, speaking to nonprofit leaders across the country as a national leader in the capacity building industry and teaching best practices in governance, resource development and planning.  She has had more than 1,200 nonprofits as clients since she began this work – nonprofits of all sizes, ages, missions and challenges.

Excelsior Consulting has a mission to stimulate new thinking, to validate what’s working, to pay close attention to how work gets done, decisions get made and progress occurs – or doesn’t.  Characterized by asking good questions and listening carefully to the answers from a variety of leaders and stakeholders, every recommendation, plan or action is custom to the organization with whom she is working.
